More than 1,300 runners gathered in Wenatchee Saturday morning for the city's annual marathon.

The race is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and after what happened there this week, organizers decided to make changes to their security plan.

Race organizers met with police and decided to change the starting line set-up to keep spectators further away. They added more police to the area and asked runners not to discard extra items like clothing and backpacks along the route.

We asked them to be aware: if you see something, say something Ian Crossland said.

Organizers do not believe what happened in Boston kept anyone away.

Some said honoring the victims of the bombings gave them an even stronger resolve to run.

We had a moment of silence before the race and I think there's a moment where you carry on, Crossland said.
