People living north of Seattle and in the Cascade Foothills woke up to snow Friday, leading to numerous accidents and some school delays.

Snow was falling in a convergence zone north of Seattle, mainly between south Everett and Mount Vernon. There was a slight possibility that north Seattle could see some rain and snow showers.

Temperatures were cool enough for some of the snow to accumulate on the road, leading to some accidents. Amounts were still generally expected to remain light, but travel was tricky. Numerous accidents were reported.

The snowfall was expected to diminish later in the morning and afternoon as temperatures rise.

Snow showers were also expected in the mountains, with the heaviest accumulations at Snoqualmie and Stevens passes.
