Sir Paul McCartney will take the place of the late Kurt Cobain and lead Seattle grunge band Nirvana at a charity concert Wednesday night to benefit victims of Superstorm Sandy, The Sun newspaper reports.

The 70-year-old has reportedly been working with Nirvana founding members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic after a recent studio session.

The Sun reports it s the first time in 20 years that the surviving members of the group will play together publicly.

They are saying how good it is to be back together, McCartney reportedly said. I said Whoa? You guys haven t played together for all that time?

Rolling Stone reports Pearl Jam s Eddie Vedder will perform with Pink Floyd s Roger Waters on Money, Us and Them and Comfortably Numb.
