A Washington State Ferry arrived in Seattle with one extra passenger than it had when it departed Thursday afternoon after a baby was born on board.

The girl, named Lucy, was delivered with the help of the crew and passengers.

The Seattle Times reports a midwife, an OB/GYN nurse and two EMTs happened to be on board to help the woman with the quick delivery. The woman was in labor when she boarded the ferry at Bainbridge Island, but didn t think she would give birth so quickly.

A Washington State Department of Transportation spokesperson said this is the first time anyone can remember that a baby was born on a ferry in transit.

The parents released a statement saying Lucy, who is 7 pounds, 3.6 ounces, and mother are doing fine.
