SEATTLE - All-Star center Lauren Jackson has signed a three-year contract extension with the Seattle Storm, Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Brian Agler announced Tuesday. The deal takes Jackson through the 2014 season.

Clearly, Lauren Jackson is one of, if not the best, player in the world, Agler said upon announcing the deal. She has been and will continue to be a critical part of the success of our basketball team. We want to keep her here in Seattle for a long time.

I m excited about it, said Jackson. Seattle is like my home. It s good to be able to continue my career here and pursue more championships.

Jackson, a seven-time All-Star selection, is a three-time league MVP (2003, 200, 2010).

She earned multiple honors in 2007 when she was named both MVP and Defensive Player of the Year and again in 2010 when she was tabbed as both the league and Finals MVP after leading Seattle to its second championship.

We are thrilled to tie Lauren Jackson and the Seattle Storm together as we look ahead to the future of this organization, added Storm President and CEO Karen Bryant. I can t imagine her not being here in Seattle.

Jackson, who was recently named one of the WNBA s Top 15 players, has been out of action recently as she is recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in her left hip. She had the surgery June 30.
