Over the years, Ola Salon in West Seattle has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local causes, including Northwest Hope & Healing (breast cancer) and Transitional Resources (housing for mental health patients). That s why it came as such a shock when workers arrived to find $25,000 in cash and equipment missing last month.
It's so sad to have a business that's about feeling good be violated in such a way, said stylist KC Law. It's heart breaking.
Now, the community that has been the recipient of Ola s good nature is coming together to help it s struggling neighbor. Salty s on Alki is hosting the Ola Salon Auction & Block Party from 6:30 to 9:30 on June 19th. The West Seattle community is encouraged to support the salon s owner and crew, and help replace what the burglars took.
They have had a passion for giving back to the community since day one, said Nick Nordby, VP of Business Development for Salty s Restaurants. They were in the process of raising $10,000 when they were broken into.
Salty s on Alki is partnering with community residents and other local businesses to let those at Ola know how appreciated they truly are.
We need our West Seattle neighbors to know that we ve got their back, said Nordby. We all need to look out for each other because you never know who might be next.
Tickets are $45. All proceeds from the auction, as well as a large portion of the ticket sales will go towards the salon. Auction items will include everything from helicopter tours, to Salty s brunch packages, to signed Seahawks jerseys. The event is open to the public.
