KENT, Wash. - A long spell of warm, hot weather has put a smile on the faces of Western Washington pumpkin growers.

Pumpkins and other squash thrive in those weather conditions and growers are celebrating a ripe and ready crop of big, orange pumpkins ready for Halloween decorations.

It's been a good pumpkin year, said Michael Carpinito of The Carpinito Brothers Inc., a Kent company that specializes in local produce.

They a have a you-pick-'em farm with a corn maze and hayrides in Kent and so far this season it has been packed.

We're gong to get swamped, said Carpinito, when asked how the Halloween sales are shaping up.

It was a different story two years ago, when early rains left the fields filled with mud and under-ripe green pumpkins.

There are several pumpkin patches in the area that are open for you to visit and pick out your own pumpkins. Find a list here
