LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Much of what the public will see during Tuesday's memorial for four fallen Lakewood, Wash. police officers will be thanks to an outpouring of donations from across the state.

Culinary students at Bates Technical College are helping by preparing meals for the service breakfast for 600 family members and a reception for 400. The food is donated by Costco, Sysco and Food Services are America.

The students are learning what food service is all about.

In this industry, a certain amount of this is giving. It's helping out and seeing what you can do for the community, said Chef Roger Knapp.

La Quinta Inns are providing free lodging for visiting police officers. A total of 400 free rooms are being donated at hotels in the Tacoma area.

We imagined many people would be coming from out of the area so, by donating hotel rooms, we really wanted to help the community, said Tasha Bishop of La Quinta Inns.

Lakewood florists are making beautiful arrangements around the clock. Hundreds of bouquets are being donated and delivered to the Tacoma Dome for the event.

There's a lot of flower shops in Tacoma and I'm sure each shop is just overwhelmed with a lot of arrangements right now, said florist Amy Suk.

Fifteen UPS stores across Washington are donating paper and printing 20,000 programs for the service.
