PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University has renamed a campus building to honor the life of Seattle television news anchor Kathi Goertzen.

Friends and family gathered Saturday for a ceremony to formally rename a building as the Kathi Goertzen Communication Addition. The 54-year-old journalist at KOMO-TV died last year following a lengthy, public battle with brain tumors.

Goertzen was a 1980 graduate of WSU and was a key figure in the formation of The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.Pintak. In Kathi's honor we pledge to create a new generation of students armed with the latest technology, yet steeped in the traditions of Edward R. Murrow. It's what we believe she would have wanted.
