About 100 Puget Sounds area Boeing engineers will be handed 60-day warning notices Friday that they will be losing their jobs. It's the start of what could be 700 layoffs by the end of the year.

Boeing Chief Engineer Mike Delaney said part of the reason for the cuts is because the 777x and 787-10x have not launched yet, so they don't need the engineers.

Last month, Boeing announced it would layoff 800 machinists by the end of the year.
