The Parkland coffee shop where four Lakewood police officers were murdered in 2009 will be renamed starting Friday to honor them.

The News Tribune reports Forza Coffee Co. at 11401 Steele St. S. will now be named Blue Steele Coffee Co.

Owners Courtney and Oliver Marshall have owned the Forza franchise since 2010 and have decided to go it alone. Courtney Marshall said rising franchise fees were a contributing factor to the decision to break away from the chain.

Proceeds from some sales at Blue Steele will go toward preserving a nearby officer s memorial and a scholarship fund will be set up for students at Washington High School who are interested in law enforcement or community service careers.

Lakewood Police Sergeant Mark Renninger and Officers Tina Griswold, Ron Owens and Greg Richards were shot and killed by Maurice Clemmons on Nov. 29, 2009. Clemmons was shot and killed two days later by a Seattle police officer.
