Video: Bellarmine Prep coach Bernie Salazar

TACOMA, Wash. -- Bernie Salazar's philosophy in teaching boys basketball at Bellarmine Prep is to teach his players to become better men through basketball.

Bernie is in his 14th year at Bellarmine. His philosophy is to work hard, treat kids correctly and hold them accountable.

Bernie grew up in Arizona and attended Regis Prep where he won two Arizona state championships. After two years at junior college, Bernie transferred to Gonzaga.

Bernie joined the Bellarmine faculty and basketball staff in 1992. Two years later, he became head coach.
