Army investigators are offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the identification of human remains found at Joint Base Lewis-McChord three years ago.
U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) said the skull of an adult woman was found Oct. 13, 2010 near State Route 507 and State Route 7. The woman was believed to be between 25- and 40-years-old.
Two non-contiguous vertebrae were found at the scene, but no other remains were recovered.
The medical examiner determined the woman died 5-to-7 months before the remains were found.
The most identifiable feature from the remains was a defect on the woman s front tooth on the lower jaw.
A facial reconstruction was created based on forensic evidence, but the CID says it may not be an exact likeness. The woman s race is undetermined, but it s possible she was of a mixed ancestry.
