A growing sinkhole in Assumption Parish, Louisiana, swallowed a large group of cypress trees Wednesday night and the moment was caught on video.
According to The Times-Picayune, the so-called slough in comes a year after the sinkhole was discovered in an area around Bayou Corne. The sinkhole has grown to 24 acres. Some 350 residents are under an indefinite evacuation order because there is no sign that the hole will stop growing.
The state is reportedly suing Texas Brine LLC. They say the company operated a salt dome cavern that caused the sinkhole.
