EVERETT, Wash. The State's Liquor Control Board on Tuesday kicked off a series of public hearings on proposed rules about marijuana.

Since voters approved legalizing marijuana, the board has been working on regulations. Now the state's 42-page plan is receiving a lot of attention from people with a business plan.

Bruce King has been farming awhile, but just recently moved on to a 70-acre site in Arlington. He has corn, cows and pigs, but what he'd like to add is pot.

Do I smoke pot, no, absolutely not. Do I suggest that other people that I know, my employees, my children, smoke pot, absolutely not, he said.

But is he willing to make money off pot?

People are going to buy this stupid product and if they are going to buy this stupid product I want them to buy this stupid product from me, he said.

He has the space. He d move the cows out and what he hopes is a cash crop in. He's optimistic about the state's marijuana marketplace

Ecstatic, ecstatic. I think there is potential for a huge amount of profit for any grower that makes a good product.

On Tuesday he attended the first of a handful of hearings where the public can ask questions about the state's proposed marijuana rules.

King says for him, the meetings are more about getting to know the competition.

And so far what I have seen I am not going to have any real problems, he said. Some people are going to make a lot of money and others are going to lose their shirts, it's a gold rush.
