Peter Steinbrueck, a former Seattle councilman and son of architect and preservation advocate Victor Steinbrueck, announced Dec. 19 that he is running for mayor.

Steinbrueck announced his candidacy during an event at Pike Place Market -- the famous institution that his father helped preserve.

Steinbrueck is one of several declared candidates in the 2013 mayoral race. Others include state Sen. Ed Murray, city Councilman Tim Burgess, and incumbent Mayor Mike McGinn.
