Lewis County officials on Friday seized more than 60 dogs from a home near Doty because the owner could not properly care for them.

The 47 adult fox hounds and 20 puppies were found living in harsh conditions. One dog was found dead.

Pasado's Safe Haven took in some of the dogs.

The 78-year-old woman who owns the animals was trying to bring the property into compliance but things got out of hand.

The owner, who was said to be cooperating, has not been charged but the case has been referred to Lewis County prosecutors.
