CANNON BEACH, Ore. Police are searching for a woman from Goldendale, Washington, after a 2-year-old girl was found dead and a 13-year-old girl was found seriously injured. A hotel housekeeper discovered the scene Friday.

Cannon Beach police are also looking for an SUV in relation to the incident.

Police were called to the Surfsand Resort at 148 W Gower Ave. around 9:30 a.m., after a housekeeping worker found a dead toddler and seriously injured teenager in a third-floor hotel room, Cannon Beach Police Chief Jason Schermerhorn said.

The teen was in surgery Friday evening at Doernbecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University, according to Schermerhorn. She was life-flighted there after being critically cut.

Police were actively searching for the Jessica Smith, 40, of Goldendale (above) and a 2007 gold Chevy Suburban (pictured below) with WA liscense plate APX3141.

Smith checked into the hotel on Wednesday. Schermerhorn called Smith a person of interest and said, at this point, they want to make sure she's OK.

Anyone who sees Smith or the SUV should call Cannon Beach police at 503-436-2811.

No suspect has been named.

The Clatsop County Major Crime Team was handling the investigation.
