NFL Media columnist Michael Silver reports cornerback Brandon Browner was facing an eight-game suspension for a second violation of performance enhancing drug use.

Browner disputes that report on Twitter.

The story has now changed to a substance abuse violation, which is thought to be marijuana use.

If true, that 8-game suspension, which ESPN reports could be as much as a 1-year-ban, would likely stand, and Browner, a free agent at season's end, would almost certainly be done in Seattle.

The Seahawks won't comment due to the confidentiality of the league's drug program.

Browner served a four-game suspension in 2012 for using a banned substance.
