The Seattle Police Department has its own classic car -- on patrol.

Officer Jim Ritter parked this 1970 patrol car at Westlake Center on Saturday.

In the last 43 years, the Plymouth Satellite went through a collision and two private owners before it was restored and given to the police museum.

Officer Ritter says the public enjoys seeing the car out and about-- patrolling the streets.

We don't do any enforcement out of it. We do not do traffic stops. We do not get into pursuits. We do not transport prisoners. But going to calls and interacting with the public, it's a great too. As you can see here, the public likes it. Even the criminals like it, said Ritter.

Minutes later, Officer Ritter responded to an assault call nearby. The patrol car was back in action with sirens blaring and lights flashing.
