A 57-year-old woman is being at Harborview for second degree burns to her head after her Ballard apartment caught fire.
The fire started just after 4:30 a.m. at Northwest 62nd Street and 23rd Avenue Northwest.
Investigators said the cause of the fire was a candle was left unattended. The woman was the only one in the apartment.
The woman s dog was also pulled to safety and is in the care of a neighbor, said Kyle Moore, spokesman for Seattle Fire.
Moore said the woman ran back into the burning apartment to rescue her dog. It was unclear whether she received injuries after re-entering her unit. She is being treated at Harborview Medical Center.
The building owner said 8 of building's 10 units were occupied at the time of the fire, and unaffected tenants were evacuated for a short time.
Investigators estimated the fire caused $150,000 in damages to the building, and $50,000 in damages to the woman s personal property. No other units were damaged.
