Believe it or not, it's time for parents to think about registering their kids for summer camp. Meredith Cambre, Executive Director of the YMCA's overnight camps, shares what parents need to do to choose the right camp and prepare their kids.

Summer camps help with character development, allow campers to challenge themselves, try new things, and make new friends. To select the best camp for your child, Cambre advises researching the camp's hiring and training practices, and visiting the camp and meeting counselors. Most importantly, parents should choose camps that their children are interested in.

Visiting camps this time of year isn't realistic, though, so Parentmap is holding the first of four camp fairs Saturday, February 2nd at St. Thomas School in Medina from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 100 local and out-of-state camps will be there with information. The fair is free to attend.
