NORTHBEND, Wash. -- A yearly camp for young burn survivors was canceled earlier this year, but those who rely on the camp raised the funds needed to put it on themselves.

Dozens of kids and adults showed up for Camp Eyabsut Sunday afternoon. The foundation that typically puts on the camp canceled it in April, but supporters raised more than $100,000 to make it happen on their own.

The camp's name means to rise above anything.

We could not be quitters because we would be sending the wrong message to our campers that we did not find a way to rise above anything, said Jeanette Day, who became camp director this year.

The seven-day camp is one again taking place at Camp Waskowitz in North Bend.
