SEATTLE -- Boy Scouts of America announced Monday it has removed the outspoken gay leader of a Rainier Beach based troop after he deliberately injected his sexuality into Scouting.

Troop 98 Scoutmaster GeoffMcGrath said he was being profiled by NBCNews when the outlet posted on its website his membership was revoked , information he has yet to hear himself from the organization.

We expected better, said McGrath, We played our part in a transparent way and are surprised they wouldn't back up their decision.

McGrath filed a charter application through Rainier Beach Methodist Church last year for a new Boy Scout troop. Troop 98 was approved, and has been operating for several months.

They were fully aware of my prior activism, explained McGrath, The impact of discrimination has missed them somehow.

Last May, Boy Scouts ofAmerica changed its policy regarding gay members, allowing homosexual youth but not adults.

McGrath, who's brother and nephew rode bikes from the Northwest to Boy Scouts headquarters in Texas aiming for change, saw the May decision as hopeful.

Now, he's not so sure.

All gay adults who currently serve as den leaders and Scoutmasters should probably keep it to themselves, McGrath reluctantly surmised.

Church leaders also have not been notified of McGrath's future, and plan to stand behind him.
