Boeing is experimenting with automation to build bodies for the new 777X airplane in a secret waterfront warehouse in Anacortes.

The new jet will have the aluminum body of current planes with new plastic composite wings.

The automation experiment is attempting to build the body faster, using fewer people and more machines.

KING 5 previously reported this summer about how Boeing has been considering locations for 777X manufacturing, including Everett.

The company has not determined where it will build the new 777X yet. Major airlines have already expressed eager interest in buying it.

Boeing is expected to officially launch the new plane by the end of this year.
