Fire crews working to contain the Dog Mountain and C-Line wildfires made progress on Monday.

Chuck Turley, a spokesperson for the Department of Natural Resources, said the expect to have the C-Line fire fully contained by Wednesday. Currently, the fire burning near Littlerock is 80 acres and 70 percent contained.

The larger Dog Mountain fire will take longer to contain. Turley said this fire is has burned 160 acres and they expect full containment within the week. As of Tuesday, Dog Mountain is 60 percent contained.

The fires started over the weekend, along with nine others, when dry conditions, hot weather, and wind raised the fire danger.

With temperatures expected to stay in the 70s through this week and no precipitation expected until Sunday, conditions remain ideal for wildfires in Washington.
