A Stanwood Middle School teacher is being held on $1 million bond in connection with the death of his wife.

The Everett Herald reports the 49-year-old was being held on investigation of second-degree murder.

Police were reportedly called to the couple s Mount Vernon home Monday morning where the woman died. The husband allegedly told police his wife fell down the stairs, but detectives say that s not consistent with what they have learned.

KING 5 News is not naming the suspect because he has not officially been charged.
