SEATTLE - More than 150 people showed up Sunday outside the Fir Lodge, also known for years as the Alki Homestead Restaurant.

The building, which was built in 1904, was damaged by a fire last year and has been empty ever since then.

Some held signs spelling out This place matters, part of a new push to help restore the building.

This building is a big part of our history... as a neighborhood, as a city, it's a part of our community and it's a part of all of us, said King County Executive Dow Constantine.

The group photo will be made into a poster and will also be used in an online marketing campaign.
