It's the 1st day of summer but we have yet to break 75 degrees or see much sun. In our attempt to look like we do,though, there's a serious lesson to be learned about the dangers of indoor tanning. She's since had more than forty surgies, thirty-eight of which were to test and remove basal cell melanoma, the most common form of skin cancer in the U.S. Dermatologist Dr. AlisonYoung from Virgina Mason explains why there is no such thing as safe tanning and what to look for when it comes to skin cancer.
A bill is currently being considered to pass a law that would require anyone under the age of 18 to get a prescription from a licensed physician in order to step foot into a tanning bed. If the bill is passed, the new law would take effect on January 11, 2011.
