The state Attorney General's office filed charges against the owner of a wheelchair company they believe committed Medicaid fraud.
Michael Mann is the owner of Wheelchairs Plus. The AG's office said Mann provided used or refurbished wheelchairs, but billed Medicaid as if they were new.
Mann is accused of buying the wheelchairs from second-hand websites or nursing homes and refurbishing them with new parts and paint. It's believed he would then put a new label or serial number, give it to a Medicaid client and then bill the state for the cost of a new wheelchair.
The state has claimed its Medicaid system paid out more than $600,000 for the wheelchairs.
Mann is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on August 12.
