WEST SEATTLE If your closet is packed with old Halloween costumes, there s a way to swap it for another one this weekend.

Saturday is National Costume Swap Day. City Mouse kid s store in West Seattle is one of those that are taking part.

People receive a token for bringing in a costume. On Saturday, the costumes will be laid out on a large table and people can pick out another costume.

The national event was sparked by a simple idea that reusing Halloween costumes would help families save money each Halloween and cut down on the number of outfits that end up in landfills.

I love it. I think it's perfect for our community. Perfect for families, said customer Diana Palmer. There's no reason to go out and spend $80-to-$100 on costumes really. I don't have anything against people who do, but our family, we have three small kids. I think it's great to come and find a costume.

City Mouse Store is located at 4218 SW Alaska Street.

People can start showing up at 10:00 a.m. and look through costumes, but the swap will begin at 11:00 a.m.
