A West Seattle couple is pleading for the return of their American flag that was stolen Thursday night.

Duff and Sharon Kennedy were celebrating more than the 4th of July when they unfurled their giant American flag in front of their West Seattle home.

The flag was used to drape the casket of Duff s son, Roger, after he was killed in Vietnam in 1972.

The flag was one that was given to us by the military, said Duff Kennedy. That was after my son s death in Vietnam.

They returned home from watching fireworks to find the flag, which is about 6 feet, by 10 feet, missing. They don t believe the person who took the flag knew how special it was to them.

The couple says they re happy to buy an even bigger flag for someone who returns the flag.

If you have information about the flag, you can email mpittman@king5.com and we ll help return the flag.
