We're little more than a week away from the start of the Olympics in London.

But what if the world was watching Seattle instead?

14 years ago, the city was in the running to host the summer games.

At the time, Seattle resident Bob Walsh was working to secure the bid.

Now he's told our news partners, KIRO Radio, that the city council sent a letter to the U-S Olympic Committee wanted out back then because of cost concerns.

The London 2012 Olympics are already an estimated $10-billion over budget.

London is also dealing with a potential security problem.

The union representing immigration staff at British airports says it will stirke the day before the games start. Members are upset over pay cuts and job losses.

At the same time, 1200 British troops have been put on standby for the games to cover a shortfall after a private contractor failed to provide enough security guards.

The Olympics start on Friday, July 27.

Join us that day at 7pm for the KING 5 Ozone show, followed by NBC's coverage of the Opening Ceremony at 7:30.

That's Friday, July 27.
