KIRKLAND, Wash. - At a bail hearing Mondayfor the 56-year-old man accused of causing a fatal road rage crash, prosecutors announced the suspect's blood-alcohol content was 0.328, which is four times the legal limit.

The man could be charged with vehicular homicide following a fatal crash near I-405 in Kirkland on Sunday afternoon. Bail was set at $50,000.

The State Patrolsaid the man told troopers he was following another car that cut him off when he lost control while exiting the freeway, hit a raised median on 85th Street NE and rolled, hitting Steve Lacey's car. Lacey, an innocent victim who was driving west on 85th Street,was killed instantly.

According to a statement of probablecause, right after the crash the suspect could barely maintain his balance and admitted to being drunk.

Laceywas a software engineer at Googleandwas very well known in the tech world.

He had previously spent 11 years at Microsoft, where he led teams that worked on the Flight Simulator series of games. And friends said he was personally recruited by Mark Zuckerberg to work at Facebook, but in the end, endedup staying at Google.

His was a name that just always came up, said Kelly Smith, founding partner of Curious Office, a technology development organization. That has a lot to do with his experience, his capabilities, but mostly [because] he's just a very likable guy.

Chee Chew, Engineering Director at Google Kirkland, issued a statement Monday, saying, We were saddened to hear this tragic news. Our hearts go out to Steve's family during this difficult time. He will be missed by all of us at Google.

Lacey was married with a 7-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl.

This is the kind-of guy you could only hope to have as a friend and neighbor, said neighbor Neal Karlinsky. It's incredibly painful and such a waste.
