Fifteen years ago, November 27, 1998, marked the worst bus violence in Metro's history.

A driver was shot and a bus full of passengers flew off the Aurora Bridge onto the Fremont neighborhood below.

Since then, several high profile Metro crimes have put the spotlight on bus safety.

Now, more buses have cameras and more cops are riding on buses. Yet the number of reported assaults on passengers is rising.

Metro says the rise in reported assaults could be because Transit Police encourage drivers to call 911 and more passengers have cell phones.
