SEATTLE - Washington State Ferries and City of Seattle staff are trying to spread the word about WSF's plans for replacing the Seattle ferry terminal and the City's plans for the new Seattle waterfront, including the construction of a new seawall.
To reach commuters with details about the plans, there was an outreach effort onboard the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island on the 5:30 p.m. run Tuesday.
Ferry riders, Andi and Don Taylor, said they could see why the terminal needs upgrades.
It is a really aged facility. The ridership is still increasing, said Don Taylor. It is going to be public financing, I'm sure.
$268 million in local, state, and federal funds will be poured into replacing the Seattle Ferry Terminal.
WSF Project Manager, Genevieve Rucki, said they are working to make Colman Dock safer, seismically sound, and more efficient.
