A sister of the man hosting Barack Obama at his Madrona home Thursday waited eagerly outside her brother's house, hoping to catch a glimpse of the president.

Lisa Blume, sister of Bruce Blume, good-naturedly laughed about not being on the guest-list for the $17,900-a-ticket luncheon at her brother's house.

I'm a huge supporter of Obama and very excited that he's here. Unfortunately Idon't have the resources to be the kind of donor that is able to attend, Lisa said.

Though Lisa wasn't allowed to attend, she said her 84-year-old parents and 14-year-old niece did.

He would have loved to have me, but it was not his decision, she said.

The luncheon was catered by Seattle catering company and dining club The Ruins. They served:

  • Sweet potato latkes with tarragon aioli and house-smoked trout
  • Pastry bundles filled with fennel sausage
  • Endive spears with Dungeness crab and tarragon aioli
  • Baked ham with biscuits and mustard cream
  • Spinach and goat cheese frittatas
  • Poached Columbia River King salmon
  • House-made muffins and scones
  • Asparagus
  • Fresh fruit
  • Fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice

Following the luncheon inMadrona, the Paramount fundraiser was was catered by Seattle chef Tom Douglas, owner of restaurants such as Dahlia Lounge, Serious Pie and Palace Kitchen.

Douglas served club salad with roasted turkey, roasted Yakima asparagus and coconut cream pie. According to Douglas, Obama once called the chef after tasting the pie and said, Dude that coconut cream pie was over the top, man!
