Today's episode of New Day Northwest is dedicated to the work of ArtsFund, strengthening the community by supporting the arts through leadership, advocacy, and grant-making. Since 1969, ArtsFund has been providing grants and support to arts groups in King and Pierce counties, working to raise funds and increase access to arts and culture.

Spectrum Dance is one of many groups who have benefited from the support of ArtsFund. Under the tutelage of Artistic Director and critically acclaimed visionary, Donald Byrd, Spectrum Dance Theater has become a highly regarded institution for making dance accessible to performers and audiences from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.

Mari Horita, President and CEO of ArtsFund joined host Margaret Larson on the show today to introduce the amazingly talented members of Spectrum Dance as they performed a piece choreographed by Donald Byrd. Then Donald sat down with Margaret to talk about how the ArtsFund has helped Spectrum Dance.

You can see seven world premiere pieces by Donald Byrd during "Rambunctious: A Festival of American Composers and Dance". The festival runs May 15th - 17th at Fremont Abbey Arts Center, and May 22nd - 24th at the historic Washington Hall.
