An off season ground swell of excitement is growing among Seattle Seahawks fans. A group of fans is putting together an online project, promising 'the biggest fan driven project in Seahawks history.'
According to supporters, the goal of the secret project is to build a statue outside Century Link Field.
The website, buildthetip.com, suggests a bronze statue will immortalize the moment when Richard Sherman tipped a pass in the NFC Championship game, intended for 49ers WR Michael Crabtree. The tip and ensuing interception by Malcolm Smith sealed the Hawks' chances for Super Bowl XLVIII.
Organizers are holding off on confirming plans for a statue and funding details until Monday.
This is huge! says 'Big Lo', a diehard Seahawks fan who is in on the secret. This is for the fans, for the team, the organization and the northwest. It's for all of us.
A Seahawks spokesperson did not return our request for comment on the idea.
