SEATTLE -- The delicate flowers have been perfectly arranged, thousands of them, here at Ballard Blossom.

We start planning for Valentines Day, right after New Year's, at least 6 weeks of preparation, said co-owner Rachel Martin.

The flower shop has been a part of downtown Ballard for decades. A go-to place for customers who want to prove their love on the romantic holiday.

We have of course thousands of roses, but customers like to branch out and use other types of flowers as well, said Martin.

Extra delivery drivers were brought in by 6 a.m. to begin deliveries.

We start at peoples homes, then once businesses are open, we'll drop them off there, said co-owner David Martin.

Floral designers and delivery drivers will work up to a 14-hour day to get the flowers to lovers. A standard dozen red roses costs approximately $90.00.

Roses are a great purchase now a days, said Martin, because they've been bred to last much longer.

And while the flowers may disappear soon enough, the love they represent should last much longer.
