EVERETT, Wash. -- A 14-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was struck by a car while walking on a sidewalk in Everett Thursday afternoon.
The collision happened around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of 112th St. SE and 7th Avenue SE. The girl was immediately transported to Harborview Medical Center, where she was being treated for serious injuries.
Detectives believe a Chevy Suburban was turning left onto 7th Avenue SE when it collided with a Toyota Camry. The Camry veered onto the sidewalk where the girl was walking. After the Camry struck the girl, it also ran into a business before coming to a rest upside down.
Police said the driver of the Suburban was a 16-year-old Lynnwood male, while the driver of the Camry was a 48-year-old Everett woman. The woman was taken to Providence Medical Center for evaluation; her condition was unknown.
Multiple eastbound lanes of 112th St. SE are currently blocked as police continue their investigation. All vehicles traveling southbound on 7th Avenue SE are being routed eastbound on 112th St. SE. It's unknown when the lanes will reopen.
