Two men who were chased out of a Tacoma convenience store after trying to steal beer were killed after crashing their car Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson for the Tacoma Police Department said a third man ran from the scene of the crash, but later called the police to admit his involvement.

The man needed treatment at the hospital, where officers arrested him for strong arm robbery, felony hit and run, and two counts of vehicular homicide.

The attempted robbery happened around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Portland Avenue and East 64th Street.

A Tacoma police officer said the clerk of a Chevron chased them out of the store and called 911.

The men took off in their car at high speed then lost control and crashed. Two men were ejected from the car and died at the scene.
