If you've ever looked in a mirror and thought, My arms are too flabby or Iwish I was thinner, then you're guilty of fat talk.

Dr. Neeru Bakshi, a psychiatrist at the Moore Center for Eating Disorders, joined Get Fit to discuss fat talk and how it can harm self-esteem.

Some tips Dr. Bakshi gave on how to avoid fat talk included changing the course of conversation to a more neutral topic, or focusing on what you like about yourself (or your friend, if they start the fat talk) that isn't physical.
