ARLINGTON, Wash. -- Police say their investigation into a shooting in Arlington has turned into a homicide investigation.
Investigators say the 26-year-old woman who was critically injured in Tuesday's shooting had passed away from her injuries early Wednesday.
The incident happened just before 3 p.m. in a neighborhood in the 6800 block of 188th Street Northeast.
A neighbor says she heard several shots, then a man started screaming for help. The woman then noticed a car driving away. She said officers told her this may be a drive-by shooting.
Medics airlifted the woman to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was treated for a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim's identity and the cause of death will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police haven't released any details about the shooter.
