Mark Ashley was surprised to discover rust on both the outside and inside of his new truck.

It is possible to have some corrosion, I have a lot of corrosion, explained Ashley.

Ashley spent $60,000 on the Ford F-350. He discovered the rust just months after he bought it last spring.

Shortly after I noticed the corrosion, which was July. I've tried to use the vehicle as little as possible and keep it garaged so the corrosion wouldn't get worse, said Ashley.

There's rust in the dash and under the seat. Ashley took the truck to Aaron Strong at Modern Collision in Bainbridge Island to take a look.

The underside is a lot more than I would expect for around here. The inside is really surprising for a car that's brand new, said Strong.

The dealer, Bickford Ford, asked Mark to get an estimate for repairs. But the claim was denied by Ford.

I am surprised that they wouldn't take care of the interior stuff, said Strong.

For Mark it appeared to be a rust to judgment by corporate.

I think I'm unique and have a situation that should be addressed, said Ashley.

Mark called me and I contacted Mike Bickford, the general manager of the dealership. He says the rust was not Mark s fault but may have started when the truck was transported from Kentucky during the winter.

We think this truck was exposed to more moisture in the inside than the average truck, there's a chance one of the seats had less protection than the other ones, said Bickford.

Bickford contacted corporate and it brought a specialist in to come up with a solution.

He went to Mr. Ashley's house looked at the parts and determined that he could prep them and we can sand them remove all of the rust and paint them, explained Bickford.

And that makes Ashley very happy. He just wishes the solution wouldn't have taken so long.

This is 7 months later and frankly, 7 months seems like a long time for Ford to acknowledge there was a problem and get resolution, said Ashley.
