A Pierce County man who was found guilty of murdering a developmentally disabled teenager has been sentenced to life without parole.

Tyler Savage was convicted in the death of 16-year-old Kimmie Daily in 2010. Prosecutors said Savage lured Daily to a secluded area where he raped and strangled her.

It took the jury just a few hours to find Savage guilty of first degree murder and rape.

During sentencing Friday, Kimmie Daily's father spoke in court and said Savage robbed him of his daughter and best friend. Savage did not respond.

I get partial closure, only for the legal part of it, said Cecil Daily, of Savage's conviction. I still have to deal with her not being here for the rest of my life. I will never have closure to that.

Daily said he hopes Savage suffers while in prison.

He chose not to say anything to Savage.

This case was about my daughter. I wanted to make sure that's what the judge heard, said Daily.

Daily told the judge his daughter enjoyed people, pets and playing basketball in the Special Olympics.
