According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 out of every 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, most by someone they know and love. And more shocking, 1 out of 3 teenagers have experienced abuse in a dating relationship.
The Washington Coalition Against Domestic Violence and theSeattle Marinershave teamed up for the past 15 years for their Refuse to Abuse campaign. On July 20, they're hosting their second annual Refuse to Abuse 5K inside Safeco Field.
Kate Wedge, co-chair of the Refuse to Abuse campaign, along with her husband, Mariners skipper Eric Wedge and Alanna Petrich, a high school senior and member of WSCADV's Teen Leadership Coucil joined Margaret to talk about the effects of domestic violence on women of all ages - and the work being done to educate girls and boys from a young age about healthy relationships.
The 2nd Annual Refuse to Abuse 5K takes place Saturday,July 20 inside Safeco Field. Runners and walkers will have access to areas of the stadium they'd normally never be allowed to enter.
