KENT, Wash. -- Two male students at Kentlake High School were arrested Tuesday for having a loaded gun at school.
Multiple students told Kentlake administrators about the gun after the two suspects, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, were reportedly seen showing it off, Kent School District spokesperson Chris Loftis said.
King CountySheriff's deputies arrested the two teens in class. Deputies said the 16-year-old had the gun in his backpack at the time. The 17-year-old later told police he recently stole the gun from a relative's house in Eastern Washington.
Both students are expelled from school. Read the letter Kent Schools sent home to parents - click here.
Loftis said the gun was never used to make a threat against anyone. Deputies said it is unclear exactly why the gun was brought to school.
