The National Hockey League reiterated Tuesday that there is no deal to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix, despite a report by KING 5 Sports on Monday.

KING 5 Sports confirmed that Greg Jamison will be the new owner of the Coyotes and, barring a last-second meltdown, the team will remain in Glendale, Ariz. It s been five days since the former San Jose Sharks CEO was reported to have been approved to buy the Coyotes.

The NHLdisputes the report.

We are the owner of the team, and thus should know if and when we have a deal to sell the team, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told KING 5 Tuesday.

I have unequivocally denied (several times) that we have a deal with Jamison, (much less that the Board has approved him), said Daly. I hope it gets done with Jamison, but there is a long way between here and there.

The future of Phoenix's NHL franchise is of particular interest to Seattle given last week's announcement of a proposed deal to build a new basketball and hockey arena in SoDo.

The NHL has owned the Coyotes for the last couple of years, after rescuing it from bankruptcy. The Coyotes has the lowest average attendance in the league.
