PUYALLUP-- ASpanaway, Wash., boy who survived after being pulled seemingly lifeless from the Pacific Ocean has been released from a Portland hospital and is recuperating at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

The father of 12-year old Dale Ostrander says doctors believe his son probably won't remember what happened. Chad Ostrander says every little act Dale does now is huge for us. Putting on your socks, saying a few words, things we take for granted.

Dale was pulled by a rip current into the ocean near Long Beach, Pacific Countyduring a church youth group field trip on August 5. He was under water for at least 15 minutes but stunned doctors and his family when he later awoke and spoke.

On a blog set up to chronicle his recovery, friends and family report that he is writing in cursive, feeding himself and getting speech therapy.

God blessed us by giving us our son back, said Chad Ostrander.
